How to Select/Change Gradebook   Calculation to Include or Exclude Zeros (0s)

Role:  Teacher

Course “Editor” mode


In editor mode, go to the wrench and select: “Course Settings”

Note:  The course setting applies to how the course functions.  If you want zeros to count to indicate the actual grade, then click the box for the setting to give the minimum score to missing assignments.  If you do not want the final grade to include zeros, then keep this setting for the course, and when you are issuing the final grade, click the option to not include zeros in the final grade.  


Ensure that the Minimum score is “0”. (All courses are set up for the minimum score to be (0).


Scroll down to “Automatically assign the minimum score to past-due activities”

  • Check the box if you want a zero to be added to the gradebook for missing/late assignments.

  • Uncheck the box if you do not want zeros for missing/late assignments.

  • Click “save”


OR


The second option for displaying and calculating the final grade.


  • As a teacher, go to your gradebook

  • Go to the wrench and select “Go to final grades”



Click the option you want the gradebook to use for calculating the final grade. 

** This calculates the final grade. If you want the course grades to always calculate without zeros, then you need to go into the course settings and “uncheck” the setting not to include zeros.
